Buntara Sangha Kuwait celebrated its annual mega cultural event, “Buntaayana-Sangama 2014” at Cambridge English School auditorium; Mangaf Kuwait on Friday 24-Oct-2014 with profound glory and galaxy of stars from abroad to a packed auditorium. This year Buntaayana makes it even special with honoring the past and stepping to the future with a grandeur celebration “Buntaayana-Sangama 2014”, the concept behind the event was to showcase various cultural activities by Sangha members & guest artists from India.
Shri. Nalin Kumar Kateel - Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada along with H.E Sunil Jain - Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Padmashri Dr. B.R Shetty – CEO of UAE exchange & NMC group of companies, Shri. Sarvotham Shetty - President of UAE Bunts and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Dr. Narendra Rai Derla – eminent Kannada writer & professor and Shri. Vijay Kumar Tonse – Recipient of Karnataka Rajyotsava prasasthi & President of Kala Jagathu Mumbai graced the occasion.
The rhythmic beats of the drums," chende" by the group of drummers, welcomed the guests at the entrance of the hall to a procession upto the auditorium. Beautiful ladies of Bunts community greeted the guests in to the hall with the traditional Purna Kumbha Swagatha. The entrance to the hall was beautifully decorated by the PR committee members led by Vice- President Neetu Shetty, the art and design work in the reception area represented the theme of the cultural activities, dance & music. Inside auditorium decoration were well done by Cultural Team lead by Santosh Rai. Hall management was taken care by Sports Secretary Raviraj Shetty bakrabail & Treasurer Shodhan Shetty Aikala along with Sudarshan Raju Shetty.
The cultural programs began at 12:30 PM with a prayer song and invocation dance by the Sangha members and kids, Lighting of the lamp/deepa to mark an auspicious beginning were done by Managing Committee, Guests & Ex- Presidents of the Sangha. Vice President Neetu Shetty welcomed the audience. On this occasion, “Buntayaana-Sangama 2014” Souvenir was released by Shri. Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Delicious lunch was sponsored by Oriental Restaurant.
The post lunch session started with felicitation of Dr. B.R Shetty, Shri. Nalin Kumar Kateel, Dr. Narendra Rai Derla, Shri. Sarvothama Shetty & Shri. VijayKumar Shetty with presentation of shawl, bouquet of flowers along with traditional tray of fruits.
BSK President Guruprasad Hegde in his speech briefed the audience about Sangha activities & the charity works done during the year. He also went on to applaud the sponsors without which a program of such magnitude wouldn’t have been possible. Students with outstanding academic records were appreciated and encouraged by presentation of memento. BSK also presented memento to the mega sponsor, UAE exchange and other Gold & Silver sponsors of the program as token of gratitude for their support.
The evening featured a host of programs from Sangha kids, ladies & gents. Guest artists from Mangalore, Karnataka Jyothi Smt. Vidyashree Radhakrishna & group mesmerized the audience with their commendable performance of classical dances. The evening was blended with various melodious songs sung by Rhythm orchestra group members from Mangalore and our own local and popular Kuwaiti singer, Mr. Mubarak Al-Rashed who added the extra zest by singing old and new Bollywood songs.
General Secretary Chethan Adappa proposed the vote of thanks. The program was well coordinated by Cultural Secretary Santosh Rai and the event was beautifully compered by Pushkal Kumar Tonse, Dr. Preeti P Shetty and Manoj Kumar Shetty.
Managing committee extends their gratitude to BSK members for their tireless efforts, the well-arranged and much talked about program came to an end with a raffle draw and singing of the Indian national anthem.
Bunta Ugadi Parbha which was held on 18th April, 2014 at the Indian Embassy Auditorium concluded successfully and undoubtedly appreciated amongst the BSK members. The program began with an invocation to the almighty in the form of Satyanarayans Pooja, which was attended by the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Shri Sunil Jain, followed by a Prayer from Laxmi Shetty, and the lightning of the lamp from Managing Committee with the Indian Ambassador.
The Welcome speech was done by President Guruprasad Hegde who stressed the importance of celebrating festivity with brotherhood and the glory it bestows on the Sangha. The Indian Ambassador Shri Sunil Jain mentioned about his visit to Udupi years back and expressed his best wishes to the Ugadi Parba celebration.
The cultural program begun with Fancy Dress Competition for age group 0-4 years with Cartoon Character as a theme, Dr. Shekhar Shetty and Anitha Adyanthaya were the judges for the competition. The next program Prince & Princess for kids with two categories 4-7 and 7-10 age group witnessed beauty as well walking the ramp with pride. Our Guest judges were Mrs. Divya Krishna Prasad and Mrs. Kaveri Mohan. The event was well organized by Dr. Preeti Shetty & Sujaya Shetty.
Post lunch the current Managing Committee felicitated the previous year Managing committee for their excellent work and management. President Guruprasad Hegde had also decided to felicitate some of the exceptional members of the Sangha for their untiring contribution to the Sangha during the year 2013. In his speech, the President sincerely wished such effort may bring in incentives to other members and help the sangha to grow more popular.
Cultural event began with Invocation dance choreographed and performed by Mrs. Laxmi Hegde and Team. The day’s Mega event, a gratitude to 100 years of Film Industry showcased Bollywood 50’s – 90’s Theme. The whole event was performed by over 45 plus kids from age group 4 to 14 yrs dance to the evergreen tunes with grace, passion and elegance which took the audience back to the nostalgic era where both music and dance were considered melodious, sacred and classical. The choreographers Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, Mrs. Sanmathi Menda, Mrs. Preeti Shetty, Mrs. Sujaya Shetty & Mrs. Shalini Alva deserves all the praises for working hard with the kids as well encouraging and portraying those talent on stage. Background narration by Mrs. Preeti Shetty was delivered with both passion and wit.
Melodious song sung by Prakash Shetty and Kushi Shetty and solo performance by Laxmi Shetty added the extra flavor to a beautiful program. Two short Skit performed by Prashanth Alva, Surendra Shetty & Shodhan Shetty added the spicy and witty tadka with perfection and timing brought the audience to a smile which was well directed by Manoj Shetty.
The Mega Raffle Draw of Lenovo Notebook was won by Mr. Vijay Alva, the second winner of Nikon CoolPix camera was Pradeep Shetty. Prize distribution for the winners of fancy dress competition and all the participants in various events was done by Managing Committee. Vote of thanks was delivered by General Secretary Mr. Chethan Prakash Adappa. A special thanks of gratitude to all our sponsors and well-wishers.
The Program was well anchored by Praveen Kumar Shankat & Mrs. Shalini Alva. Background Music was handled by Ratan Rai. The overall event was well orchestrated by Cultural Secretary Mr. Santosh Rai and team. The program concluded with singing of the Indian National Anthem.

Buntara Sangha Kuwait held their annual general body meeting on Friday 10th January, 2014 at the Al Jawahar Gulf High School Auditorium, Reggai. The program commenced with a prayer followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp by Managing Committee.
Vice president Shankar Shetty Padukudoor, welcomed the audience by extending his heart felt gratitude to all members for their whole hearted cooperation in all activities during the year, he requested the members to stay united and continue to cooperate in all welfare of the Sangha. Vishwanath Shetty, Gen. Secretary, presented the Annual Report and Treasurer Vivek Kumar Shetty submitted the Annual Statement of Account.
President Umesh Shetty Adve , briefed the audience both the social and philanthropy activities of the association, he further extended gratitude to all the members who contributed their time & resources to serve the needy under HEMA (Health, Education, and Marriage Assistance) scheme and appealed to all members to wholeheartedly contribute to this scheme.
As customary, the Managing Committee felicitated the newly married couple without dowry as part of the social commitment of the Sangha. The Managing Committee presented Certificate of Appreciation and memento to all Sub-Committee members for their immense cooperation and to the success of Sangha activities during the year 2013.
Mr. Sudhakar Shetty Aikala, a veteran and one of the popular leader among various associations in Kuwait, including Buntara Sangha appreciated the wisdom and cordial gesture shown in relinquishing all bygone misunderstanding among few Sangha members in the past and uniting under the umbrella of Buntara Sangha Kuwait, he stressed the importance of unity and brotherhood among the members.
A maturity of understanding was needed and the senior leaders took the right path to move ahead in the interest of the community and to reach an amicable solution, so as all members work closely together under a common agenda towards all socio-welfare activities of the Sangha.
Mr. Karunakar Shetty Ajekala, the designated election officer conducted the elections for year 2014 Managing Committee. The following office bearers were declared to have been elected to serve as office bearers for the year 2014.

Mr. Guruprasad Hegde the new president, who played an important role in bringing together all members in the interest of the Sangha, welcomed the past members back to the Sangha and appreciated them for their understanding, he also praised the senior members for extending all cooperation and to the success which wouldn’t have been possible without their wishful vision. The new managing team introduced themselves and affirmed their commitment to serve the association to the best of their abilities and to continue to keep the pride and glory of the Sangha at its pinnacle.
The AGM witnessed various cultural programs meticulously performed by the Sangha kids which entertained the audience. Oriental Restaurant distributed gift vouchers to the kids who participated at the recent concluded mega program Buntaayana.
Mrs. Prithvi Shetty, Sandesh Shetty and Manoj Kumar Shetty, anchored the program marvelously. Cultural programs were organized and orchestrated by Shalini Yadunath Alva and team. Outgoing General Secretary Vishwanath Shetty delivered the vote of thanks.
The evening came to an end with a fun filled housie game and singing of India national anthem, followed by dinner from Oriental Restaurant.
