Buntaayana 2015 concludes as Mega Success

Buntara Sangha Kuwait (BSK) under the presidenship of Mr. Rajesh Shetty Agari presented the much awaited mega cultural event “BUNTAAYANA 2015” on Friday April 24th, 2015 at the Cambridge School Auditorium, Mangaf. The main highlight of the event was “Sri Devi Mahatme” Yakshagana, the famous traditional folk dance drama of Tulunaadu, performed by “Kateel Sri Durga Parameshwari Prasaditha Yakshagana Mandali” Mangalore.

Managing Committee and all BSK Members welcomed the famous personalities and dignitaries of Bunts community as the guest of honours for the day, Mr. Ajith Kumar Maladi (President, Bunts alias Nadavara Mathru Sangha, Mangalore) and his wife Dr. Ashajyothi Malady along with Mr. Satish Kumar Patla, who is also known famously as Yakshagana Bhagavatha Satish Patla and Mr. Navneeth Shetty Kadri (Tulunadu-Tulu Conveyer) to grace the occasion.

The rhythmic beats of the drums," chende" by the group of drummers, welcomed the guests at the entrance of the hall to a procession upto the auditorium. Beautiful ladies of Bunts community greeted the guests in to the hall with the traditional Purna Kumbha Swagatha. The entrance to the hall was beautifully decorated by the PR committee members led by Mr. Raghunath Shetty, the art and design work in the reception area represented the theme of the cultural activities of dance & music with backdrop as “GUTHTHU DA ILLEH”. Inside auditorium decoration were well done by Cultural Team lead by Mr. Sudarshan Shetty. Stage Backdrop decoration was done by Mr. Shammiraj Shetty. Yakshagana Ranghasthala, artistic cradles, and decoration were done by Mr. Sudhakar Shetty. Full packed crowds were very well managed by Sports team and BSK Seniors

The Stage was given the name of the famous renowned poet and freedom fighter Nadoja Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai. The cultural programs began at 10:30am with formal introduction by compere of the evening Mrs. Swarna Shetty & Mr. Navaneeth Shetty Kadri and followed by prayer by Laxmi K Shetty and Amith Shetty and invocation dance by Raashi Rajesh Shetty. Distinguished guests along with the managing committee inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp and released the souvenir. Vice-president Mr. Sanath Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering for the Mega Event “Buntaayana 2015” and briefed the audience about bunts community.

Sanmathi D Menda, Sinchana Shetty, Arjun Adyanthaya, Sheethal Malli, Ramya Shetty, Preeti Prashantha Shetty, Prapti Prashantha Shetty, Prithvi Shetty, Laxmi and Shalini Yadunath Alva were performed by BSK members.

Guests of Honor for the day Mr.Ajith Kumar Malady, Dr Ashajyothi Rai, Bhagavat Satish Kumar Patla and Navaneeth Shetty Kadri were honored with flowers, Bunts traditional shawl, cardamom garlands, peta, fruits and momentous by President Mr. Rajesh Shetty Agari and Mrs. Roopa Rajesh Shetty. His Excellency Mr. Sunil Jain, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait along with his wife Dr Gargi Jain was welcomed to the stage. They along with chief guests honoured the former presidents of BSK Mr. Nithyananda Shetty, Mr.Jayakar Shetty, Mr. Venkappa Shetty Soorinje, Mr. Devin Menda, Mr. Karunakar Shetty, Mr. Sudhakar Shetty, Mr. Satish Chandra Shetty, Mr. Umesh Shetty Adve and Mr. Guruprasad Hegde. BSK also presented momentous to the mega sponsor, UAE exchange and other Platinum, Gold & Silver sponsors of the program as token of gratitude for their support. BSK also thanked all the well wishers of BSK.

His Excellency Mr. Sunil Jain, chief guests and former presidents spoke few words on the event and about Bunts Community. They also addressed the gathering by mentioning the hard work, integrity and achievements of the community in India and abroad on good work and charity to be done by the community towards the society. President Rajesh Shetty in his speech explained the history of Bunts and the way they have contributed to society. The sponsors of the event were felicitated with momentous during the function.

Delicious vegetarian lunch from Oriental Restaurant was served along with traditional Mangalore sweets Holige and Payasam.

Yakshagana is a theater form that combines dance, music, dialogue, costume, make-up, and stage techniques with a unique style and form.

The post lunch session started with the much-awaited Yakshagana 'Sri Devi Mahatame' started with a poem written by Tulu poet Nadoja Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai which was sung by Bhagavat Satish Kumar Patla. 

The Yakshagana played by Mangalore popular 'Kateel Sri Durga Parameshwari Prasaditha Yakshagana Mandali' entertained the audience with its professional and traditional acting and drama. Bhagavat Satish 

Kumar Patla mesmerized the audience with his golden voice. It was a festival for all the Yakshagana Lovers.

Vote of thanks was proposed by General Secretary Mr. Dinesh Shetty, thanking the participants, Sub-Committee members, Sponsors and well wishers for their continued support and making this mega event a very grand success. Mouth watering dinner was served by Avanti Palace. The program was well coordinated by Cultural Secretary Mr. Sudarshan Shetty and the event was beautifully compered by Mr. Navneeth Shetty and Mrs. Swarna Shetty The function concluded with Indian National Anthem by BSK members and the audiences.
